Last Day of School Moved up to May 7

Macomb School Community,

We are winding down one of the most challenging years many of us have seen in our lifetimes.  Our success this year has truly taken all of us working together.  I want to express our gratitude to all of our parents, students, and faculty members for their diligence and flexibility.  If this year did nothing else, it has shown what our school community can do when we band together.

As a staff we began our work for this year last June.  This work carried through July and into August.  Preparation for the upcoming school year during the summer is not unique for our staff, but preparing for different scenarios and changes was very unique.  As many of you know we pushed the beginning of school back at the beginning of the year to ensure we were as prepared as possible.  As parents and students you had to adjust to learning remotely.  You were also asked to be flexible to changes in school schedules at a moment’s notice.  I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the work everyone put in.

We feel we will meet all of our statutory obligations for the school year in late April/Early May.  Considering that we will meet our obligations as well as the extraordinary efforts from our community this year, we will be moving up the end of school to May 7, 2021.  Staff will be on campus and available to students that need to complete coursework through May 18.  Below are some important dates in regard to the end of school:

  • May 5 Pre-K Promotion, Kindergarten Graduation, Elementary Awards
  • May 7 Last Day of School
  • May 8 High School Graduation
  • May 19 Last day for Teachers
  • June 1 Summer Program (Elementary) Summer School (High School)

Thank you again for all of your efforts to make this year a success. Please watch for updates concerning high school summer school.
